By Allie Chang and Faith Cha

Amporachane Arun

Amporachane Arun is an Integrated Math two and an Algebra/Geometry three teacher. Arun graduated from Sunnyside High School and then went on to attend Fresno City College and Fresno State. Her hobbies include cooking and listening to music in her free time. She also is the advisor of the new K-pop club and encourages people to join.

“So far my experiences at Sanger High have been great. I love how supportive everyone is in welcoming me to Sanger High School, although this year is different because of distance learning, I don't really get to meet everyone in person. Love my PLC team who has been nothing but supportive during my transition from teaching middle school math to teaching math here at Sanger High,” said Aurn

Arun’s favorite joke that she knows by heart is, “Why was six afraid of seven? Because seven eight nine......”

Kimberly Reed

Kimberly Reed is a resource specialist and she teaches a CAP. Reed graduated from Fresno High School and then went on to attend a community college in town and then transfer to Fresno Pacific University.

So far, my experience at Sanger High School has been great. Everyone is so helpful and friendly. My students are fantastic,” said Reed.

Reed is still attending college so she doesn’t have many hobbies but she does enjoy spending time with her family and is excited to go to the movie theater. Reed doesn’t have a specific dad joke, but she is the only one in her family that tells them.

Montana Kaufman

Montana Kaufman is a PE coach and the assistant varsity volleyball coach. Kaufman graduated from Clovis High School and then went on to attend Fresno Pacific University and National University. Her hobbies include sports and coaching. In her free time, she enjoys working out, playing beach, outdoor and indoor volleyball, as well as playing board games with friends and family.

“My experience at Sanger High has been a great start to my teaching career! Although we are distance learning, I have felt welcomed by my department, and have been able to build a positive classroom environment with my awesome students!,” said Kaufman.

Kaufman’s favorite joke that she knows by heart is, “I got a lot of compliments on my waist today, people kept looking at me and saying “What a waste”.”

Kirk Johnson

Kirk Johnson is an Integrated Math Three teacher. Johnson graduated from Chico High School and then went on to attend Fresno Pacific. His hobbies include playing board games with his nieces and nephews, reading, FOE, and taking walks.

“It has been very enjoyable. I really like working with my students,” said Johnson.

Matthew Salinas

Matthew Salinas is a Conceptual Physics and Physics Honor teacher. Salinas graduated from Reedley High School and then went on to attend California Polytechnic State University and San Luis Obispo. His hobbies include learning and talking about Astronomy, Physics, and the Universe. He also runs a one session after school on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturday.

My experience here at SHS so far has been productive, but lonely. During the day, I am usually socially isolating myself in my class, which makes me focus more on what I should be doing, like grading or preparing for class. This is a great change of pace because I typically would wait to prepare until the late hours of night.

It's a little saddening that I won't get the typical first-year teacher experience, but I know I am supported by others and I am supporting others from afar. It's comforting to know that people are there for you, and also nice to know that you're there for others too despite the circumstances.” said Salinas

Salinas’s favorite joke that he knows by heart is, “Earth says to the other planets, "You guys have no life."

Flor Fernandez

Flor Fernandez is an Freshman English teacher for prep and honor courses. Fernandez graduated from Clovis East High School and then attended Fresno State University. Her hobbies include going to the gym, learning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and writing short stories or poems.

In all honesty, my experience thus far has been incredible. I never in a million years expected to teach online for my first year. Despite the chaos of distance learning, I am truly grateful to be in this position. I have faced many obstacles and challenges but I have been able to persevere. I can say with complete confidence that I am where I need to be. I look forward to each and every day that I get to come to campus and connect with all of my amazing students,” said Fernandez. She also wants to thank all the staff for the amazing work of this year.

Fernandez’s favorite joke that she knows by heart is, “Dad, I'm hungry." "Hey hungry, I'm dad."

Monica Marriott

Monica Marriott is an RSP teacher. Marriott graduated from South Hills High School, she attended the University of Utah for one year, then transferred to UCLA and finished college at Azusa Pacific University in Southern California. Her hobbies include watching sports with her husband, planting or gardening, crocheting and baking.

“I love that Sanger High School is it's own little community. Admin/Staff and students are all so very kind. They have reached out to me and helped me to get situated in all aspects of school life. I am so grateful to be a new Apache Family Member,” said Marriott.
