The life of an awesome teacher

Everyone has that one teacher that they’ll never forget. A teacher who had a positive impact on their life and was there when they needed them. Sanger High School Biology Teacher Peggy Jones is certainly one of those teachers.
Jones was born in Ontario, California but was adopted at birth and raised in Upland.
As a child, Jones was very active and enjoyed partaking in various outdoor activities in her neighborhood.
“We spent our days going to the beach, hiking, playing tennis, fishing, swimming and playing whatever street game that was going on in the neighborhood,” said Jones.

Jones is also a huge animal lover. She is particularly fond of horses and even trained some when she was younger.
“I’ve always loved animals and worked odd jobs to buy a horse,” said Jones. “I rode, trained and showed horses into my 20s.”
Later in life, Jones moved to the Central Valley where she found her true love and began growing in her family and career.
“I moved to Clovis, met and married my husband in a whirlwind romance and he graduated from Sanger High,” said Jones. “We farmed in Tombstone, area of Sanger, for 26 years, attended Reedley College along with Fresno State and graduated at 39, took me nine years with young kids with a degree in Biology and wanted to work in my family’s hometown.”
Jones then started working at Sanger High as a biology teacher, bringing her bright and lively energy with her.
“I’ve spent 27 years teaching science at SHS,” said Jones. “I love the kids.”
Many students past and present, including sophomore Angad Gill, enjoy Jones’ attitude and her methods of teaching.
“Her teaching style is easy and simple to pick up,” said Gill.
Another student of Jones, sophomore Nathaniel Contreras, also loves the way Jones helps her students and runs her classroom.
“I enjoy the lack of busy work she gives and how she walks through everything to make it easier to understand,” said Contreras.
Peggy Jones continues to be a source of comfort and inspiration for students during these trying times. The impact she has had on her students will surely carry with them for the rest of their lives.
