Even with distance learning, Apache Notes still manages to produce new videos everyday.
Apache Notes is a first period class that is designed to be a form of communication for Sanger High School and the community. It's a platform that makes announcements for clubs, athletics, school activities, major class projects and administrative updates.
“The Apache Notes is student produced and it is an incredible learning experience for students at Sanger High School who are interested in a career in the Arts, Media and Entertainment industry,” said Zhon Kuraspediani, the video production teacher of the Apache Notes. “Students learn about public speaking, producing content for an informational show, lighting techniques, scripting, storyboarding, visual storytelling, maintaining a daily broadcast, and much more. I also see the Apache Notes as a representation of our student body and school pride.”
In order for each student to participate, the class breaks up into groups of four who then are rotated every three weeks to be a part of the production. The groups then split up the responsibilities of prepping, shooting and editing the daily episodes. Normally, the class is set up within the studio set on campus, but with distance learning in place the students are working collaboratively from home. Among these students are Corey Patrick, Bella Vega and Richy Gonzalez.
“It definitely is difficult to film things ourselves with little to no help, however we are all very intelligent and creative individuals and find ways to work around the issues we experience,” said Vega.
Despite the complications, the students find ways to adapt and persevere through the less than ideal situation. Using resources such as google meet, phones, iPads and utilizing natural lighting, the students are able to produce quality work that represents the pride of the school community.
“Being a part of the Apache Notes means a lot to me, I enjoy bringing the announcements to the students of the school as best as I can and I always have fun working with the crew, “ said Patrick.
Being a part of the Apache Notes can expose students to video production, creativity and learning to work together in groups. Whether it’s being knowledgeable about different film techniques or being able to be dependable or dependent on the people around you, all the students in the Apache notes have one goal, to inform and entertain Sanger High School.
“Don't forget to watch the Apache Notes every day! Have a great day Sanger High!,” said Vega.
